![]() I thought a similar thing, but different too. This is SCP, a significant part of its charm is purposely creating mystery and intrigue by withholding answers and never elucidating them. Working off of what we see in the movie, we have as much information as the story teller intends to give originally. It's not so much conjecture as it is an interpretation. This is all kind of just my initial interpretation, but I figured somebody might find it interesting. Their remains are still visible to us, and they don't share the same plane/dimension/ability of the creature. It might appear that the ones who are invisible like the creature were successfully "selected" by it, while the others either were not deemed worthy, were deemed to be threats, or perhaps tried to escape after discovering the true nature of the cult. This would also explain why some of the cultists appeared to be sharing the same dimension as the creature (the humanoid anomalies like the one that killed Lambert) while others are not (the ones who are hanging in the sky). This makes me think that the sounds we are hearing when we hear Besson choke are him being strangled by a tentacle. I come to this conclusion after noticing that the bodies floating in the air, in the final shot, appear to be hanging from their necks. My theory: Besson's death was not a cognitohaz/infohaz at all, but instead the creature which is later revealed to be holding up the bodies mechanically defending itself against Besson by first choking him and then forcing his weapon upon himself. Secondary toward this point is the fact that when he shoots himself, he is clearly struggling as if he is being mechanically forced. What it says to me is that before he died, Besson was either choking on something or being strangled. Clearly in the latter case the cause was revealed, but I find its inclusion in Besson's death to be interesting. People have called it the result of a cognitohazard or an infohazard, but something I noticed is that Besson appears to be making a similar noise as to when Lambert has his throat slashed. I was thinking about a few things, but the thing I want to put forward is my theory about why Besson shot himself. I feel like I have some conjecture to offer. I haven't really looked into any behind-the-scenes or Q&A type stuff from the creators, and if I'm being honest, it's kind of more fun that way. I found some discussion previously made on this subreddit theorizing on the subject. ![]() Thinking about the lore, I made a few google searches into the background of Overlord. So, I just watched Overlord and Dollhouse yesterday. So you want to make something based on the SCP Foundation:
